Advisory Committee Approved to Improve Access to Courts for Those Hard of Hearing, Limited English Proficiency
In recent years, the Maine Judicial Branch created an “Access Team” to identify and remove barriers that may affect access to justice. Now, a Limited English Proficiency (LEP) advisory committee will help assist court administrative offices, judicial leadership, trial court judges, and other court personnel with issues associated with access to the court system by those with limited English proficiency or those who are hard of hearing, according to the amended charter issued Dec. 22.
