The Planet Fitness board in September removed Chris Rondeau as CEO but said he would remain on the board. Rondeau now has resigned as director and sent the board a parting message lamenting the direction of the company.

Roughly 8% of the firm’s $2.07 billion in revenue came in the form of contingency fees, according to Michael Carlinsky, one of three co-managing partners at the firm.        

The plaintiffs allege that the defendants’ intent with the suit was to “financially ruin Ms. Turner and destroy her reputation by bringing the resources of a large law firm to bear against her.”        

The five-judge panel said the plaintiff presented insufficient evidence to prove that the doctors’ negligence caused her mother to experience a diminished quality of life between the eight hours spanning the withdrawal of care and the time of her death.        

Bankman-Fried’s new attorneys, Marc Mukasey and Torrey Young of Mukasey Young, are set to file his sentencing memorandum.        

“Litigation strategy can be much debated among lawyers,” Leonard’s attorneys, former Supreme Court Justice Keith Blackwell, Steven Collins and Meredith Kingsley of Alston & Bird, wrote in their appellee brief. “That leaves even seasoned litigators open to second-guessing, especially when their decisions are viewed in hindsight after an adverse ruling.”
